“I started making money online with blogging and quickly went from $0 to $10,000 a month in less than a year. Here’s how I did it!”
I will share with you how I started making money blogging. this story will blow your mind. I have been a full-time entrepreneur for the last 5 years, and I had great success. I have generated well over $3,000,000 in sales in 2016 alone. I earned hundreds of thousands in commissions from those sales using to the system I am about to reveal in this article. The vast majority of my sales came through blogging and I am not hesitant to share with you how I did it.
So let’s get started with my story!
I’m just a regular easy-going guy who realized that he aspired for something bigger. I was obsessed with the idea of living a “life of choice” instead of a “life of sacrifice”. So I made it my mission and my duty to find a way to design my perfect life.
There were 2 things I absolutely wanted to get rid of:
- My alarm clock (come on who likes alarm clocks?).
- Suits and ties (I’m the least formal person in the solar system).
How? you ask…
First, I had to limit the number of filters in my decision-making process. Filters such as my boss, time constraints or money constraints were limiting my choices . For that reason, I had to get rid of them.
Second, I made sure to apply my “stupid simple” life philosophy. The fomula says:
- Figure out what you love.
- Figure out what you hate.
THEN:
- Do as many of the things you like as possible.
- Avoid doing any of the things you hate.
At first, I wasn’t really sure about leaving everything behind to start my business. Still, I started taking action! There are certain baby steps that helped me along the entire journey. They are the main reason why I ended up becoming a Six-Figure Bloggers in less than a year.
#1 Decide for once and Make it Happen.
I decided, then and there, to quit dreaming and talking over and over without a concrete activity. It was time for me to get started and the best place to start was at conferences.” These conferences became a turning point in my evolution. I decided to stick to my field and to earn a living thanks to what I was skilled in. I teamed up with a good friend and came up with the idea of a clothing blog. This decision became my first step towards making money blogging.
We worked together to set up our blog. I helped her with the backend systems part and that’s when I realized that it didn’t seem like ‘work’ to me. I simply loved what we were doing. From that point on, I started devoting more and more time to the project every day.
Some months passed by, investments were made with zero dollars in return. This was because we were spending a greater chunk of our productive hours in our full-time jobs. In order to solve this problem, I decided to work at night to make the project happen.
After a while, I decided to take the plunge and leave my day job to focus 100% on my entrepreneurship journey. Things were working pretty well for me, still, I made sure to still be smart about it. The smart decision was saving up enough money to deal with shifts and changes. The risk had to be taken. Knowing that there was always a way back to a “formal work life” (in case everything went to hell). As you can imagine, my friends and family inflexibly thought that I had gone crazy.
Making the decision, initiating the blog, trusting my gut and being persistent to it, ultimately rewarded me with earning. We made $110,497.23, by the end of the first year, with our clothing blog and partnerships with brands. You can either spend nights dreaming about it or get out of your bed and make it come true.
Taking an initiative is always the most difficult step but that’s what makes a trending story!
#2 Jot down the Wishlist and make it come True.
The next step is to stay focused on your goals. Not only in monetary terms, but also in terms of the life you wish to have. I dreamed of designing my life so that I could do anything I wanted, whenever I wanted and live life on my own terms. I just wanted to have full control over my life I guess… This meant: the end of unecessary filters, lots of fun and complete financial freedom. Standing fast to this kind of decisions isn’t an easy job. There were times when I had to say no to my friends, for any weekend plans, because I needed to get things done. My only motivation was my ultimate goal of being free and nothing could stand in my way.
My goal kept me moving forward. It is nowhere written for things to always go as planned. It should be noted that this path I had taken was difficult in its own way and I had to deal with losses as well. Many of my first blogs flopped just 2 to 3 months after I had started working on them. I was rigorously posting about things I wanted to see.
When these blogs failed, I realized what I had been missing. I was way too focused on myself rather than on the audience. I started a new clothing blog, from scratch and, This time, I filled it with what my audience might be interested in. I started blogging for THEM!
The key is not letting your fears and losses overpower you. My dreams and goals were more important to me than the rest. So I did what successful people do: I kept moving forward. Define your goals in such a way that they become your key motivators. Your objectives should not only be defined in monetary terms. Money is not as powerful a motivator as people might think. There are things that are far more powerful than money. For example, life goals, like achieving the lifestyle you dream of, are better at giving you more positive feelings to stand fast on the decision you have made.
After the new blog's startup, I made $300 in the first month and double in the next. Afterward, I kept doubling month after month and the process continued for the first 6 months of blogging. The secret to this achievement is …
#3 Taking the Risks and coming Face to Face with Mistakes
Adversities, failures, and blunders should never be mistaken for reasons to give up. These are just a bump in the road, or a speed breaker to let you have some time before you fetch the pace. I always try to learn from my mistakes. I really believe that, my failure in the initial stage, brought me to these 5 months of doubling my earnings every month.
I wasn’t afraid to take risks and I tried everything I learned about. From list building to email marketing (with convertkit), webinars (with everwebinar), affiliate marketing and what not. Some ideas were the right shot while some went the wrong way. Once I ran a webinar where only 25 people showed up. Most of which left while I was halfway through! But you need to brush yourself and keep moving. I did just that. I simply refused to let failures distract me from my goals. I take every failure as a growing opportunity and a discovery of something that doesn't work.
I view my mistakes as a teacher and the failures as my biggest source of motivation to stick to my goals. Try your luck, make mistakes, take risks and keep moving forward. The fun part is, one thing you try might not work at the moment, but it may come out useful later on, down the lane.
I had designed daily videos that completely flopped on the first version of the blog. A few more months went by and I redesigned the same exact videos for the second version. This time they became a huge hit! Next thing you know, they became my first income driver and allowed me to secure new partnerships with bigger brands.
#4 Diversify your Income
At this point in time, I had gathered a good number of subscribers, through driving free traffic via forums, twitter and pinterest. Throughout the development process, I started spotting my mistakes and I finally began to figure out what worked and what didn't. In t the early goings, I was creating videos for amazon products. But there were 2 big problems with that approach:
- People weren't interested in buying this type of clothing items from amazon.
- Amazon's payouts were very small (1% to 5%) depending on what you sell.
As you can imagine, the blog was destined for failure.
That’s when I moved to the next step: Affiliate marketing with famous clothing brands. My aim was to secure partnerships with reputable brands that were household names. I created email opt-ins, funnels with free daily videos, containing affiliate links of the clothes worn by the models. In the past, I was making $1 to $2 per sale on Amazon’s affiliate products. This time it was different! I could easily pocket $25 – $30 per sale by working with famous brands.
I analyzed the results and identified something crucial for my blog. My audience wanted to receive tips on how to dress, how to find the best matching clothes, and where to find the best deals. Therefore, I decided to create a subscription where I would give them just that. This meant that, if my plan worked, I would have added $10 per subscriber per month (to my existing $25 – $30 per sale)!
So I spent the next few weeks designing my new membership program and gathering a team of people who could turn it into a reality. Very quickly, I managed to get subscribers for my new program and was able to double my earnings.
This how I diversified my revenue streams, $2000 from partnerships with the brands and $500 – $600 from the membership. By the end of the third month, I managed to get more brands on board – doubling my revenue again! This meant, adding another $2500 to my income streams. Diversifying your income helps you secure and increase your earnings. If one doesn’t work, other would!
#5 Don’t stop and chase for Growth!
In the next few months, revamping my old content, improving it, and signing new partnerships with brands, is what I practiced rigorously. I eventually learned how to drive more traffic and sell better. This practice helped me in increasing my earnings and making my income charts better every day.
Only 6 months after quitting my job and I already had a $20,000 month through my clothing blog (after several mistakes and failures). Blogging is a game of puzzle. You put some of the pieces together and the rest falls into place. The first attempts are always the most difficult but the small wins on the way will give you real happiness.
My success was only made possible by constant trials and errors. I've learned a lot about blogging, marketing, and online sales since I embarqued on this journey. Now, when I connect the dots, I realize that each bump on the road was essential for my development. You’ll have low times but you need to learn how to pass the day.
I wanted to share my story with the world because I genuinely want to help others succeed. I decided to help new bloggers by teaching them all my strategies and hacks. Therefore, I created a 100% FREE blogging course. Through this course, I want to help others start a successful blog and design their ideal lifestyle.
I have further diversified my income streams, partnerships and products. I also created a daily podcast where I help entrepreneurs tackle hurdles and obstacles in the way of their dreams. I called it “Freedom By Choice”.
