We are getting to the juicy part, and surely, most of you have been waiting for this moment for a while now. There are different ways to make money with your blog, and we are going to explore them together now.

Can complete newbies earn money with a blog?
Look, man. There are seven billion people on this planet, and if you ask me, there is enough business for everybody. So, yes! Newbies can get a piece of the pie, without any problem.
I know people who started blogging very recently and are making a good living, mainly because they found a niche they were passionate and knew a lot about and they found their voice. It’s just as simple as that. The key afterward is consistency.
How long will it take before you can live comfortably from your blog?
The answer is very simple: Results vary from one person to the other. There are so many different variables that it’s impossible to predict if and when you are going to earn a living from a blog. You don’t have control over the way your audience or the market is going to react (nobody does).
However, you can control one thing: your efforts.
In other words, it might take you months or maybe years before you start earning enough from your blog. In some very rare cases, people started making money after two to three months, while others still haven’t made a dime online.
It’s important to understand that you need to play the long game when it comes to blogs. You are probably not going to make a fortune overnight. Nothing is guaranteed.
It will all depend on you, your efforts, your persistence, your creativity, and your consistency.
What ways can a person start making money from blogging?

What is display advertising?
Display advertising consists of placing a banner inside your blog. The placement of this banner may vary and includes
- the image header,
- the sidebar,
- below your blog posts,
- halfway in your blog posts, or
- any other location of your blog.
The most common model for display advertising is CPM, or cost per thousand. Basically, they will pay you X dollars for every 1,000 times their ad is shown.
Display advertising is a very easy way to monetize your blog because it takes seconds to put in place and “set and forget.” After that, every visitor will help you make a little bit more every day.
I have to insist on the “a little bit more” though. You are probably not going to get rich with this alone. However, the more traffic you have, the more you make. When you are just starting out, it won’t amount to much, but as you grow and start building a massive following, these numbers will grow.

What is AdSense?
AdSense is the biggest of them all because it’s owned by Google. Google made it incredibly easy to start using AdSense, even as a complete beginner, and you can actually start placing ads on your site from day 1.
The only thing you need to do is to pick the size and placement of the widget on your blog, and Google will take care of the rest for you. They are going to pick the right ads to display on your blog based on the content and relevance.
Then they will pay you on a pay-per-click (PPC) model and per-impression model (CPM).
Can you really earn a good living by selling e-books?
Here is the deal. The word on the street today is that it’s impossible to make money with an e-book anymore. Well, think again!

Can you make money-creating content for others?
The same way you can hire someone to write content for you, you can also write content for others. This process is called staff writing.
The best way to start is to have a blog up already. Think about it: how on earth are they going to know how well you write if your stuff is not out there?

How much can you charge for staff writing?
Just like in any market or discipline, prices vary, depending on your level and status. However, I can give you some pointers on where to start.
You can typically start at $25 per article if you are a beginner. Then the more experience you gain, the higher prices you can charge. One piece of advice though: treat each post you write as the most important post of your life.
The reason is simple: if people like your stuff and they get great results from it, they will come back to you. Trust me, when you are blogging, there is nothing better than recurring revenue because you don’t have to deploy additional efforts to look for sales, contracts, partnerships, and so on.
Just to give you an idea of how much you can charge down the road once you get more experience, I was and still am a guest writer for organizations, such as E-consultancy or Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB), and other specialized companies.
I was able to charge over $2,000 per article because I had my blogs and my name out. Some people actually referred me to other companies because they were very happy with my work, and that allowed me to secure highly profitable deals without even looking.
The sooner you start being visible, the better, so you should start today. Oh, one last thing, you might be thinking that you have to start from scratch on your blog, right?
Hell no! You probably have stuff that you have written a while back that’s timeless. For example, if you are blogging about family, there is a pretty good chance that family values have stayed the same and that your post will still be up-to-date. Then just use it!
Look for timeless posts you wrote throughout the years and add them to your blog. Easy peasy, man! Of course, if you wrote something about the Walkman revolution, you will probably have to update your stuff.
