How to get people to follow your blog and your social media

Hey guys,

Day 6 is finally here.

Let’s start today’s lesson with good news. If you thought that you needed millions of visitors on your blog every month, I want to reassure you that you don’t. Targeted users are far more valuable than an avalanche of window shoppers who don’t care about your stuff.

The keys in your income generation efforts are going to be

  • the quality of the products you advertise,
  • the quality of your reviews, and
  • the payouts or commissions you will negotiate.

So in essence, you don’t need a massive audience to earn a living. However, it’s always nice to know how to get more targeted visitors on your blog, right? So let’s have a look at how that can be achieved.

Let’s look at some of the strategies you can use to increase your targeted traffic, hence increasing your income:

  1. Treat every post as if it was the most important post of your life. As explained in a previous email, if people like your stuff, they will not only come back for more but also bring friends along with them. There is nothing more powerful than a friend’s referral traffic. Quality, value-packed posts will get you income in return.
  2. Be active on social media. Whatever social media platform you use, you need to master it. I am personally not on every single one of them. Find the one that suits you the best and be active on it. Don’t forget about Pinterest, guys. Pinterest is the most lucrative social media by far, but sometimes it gets overlooked by most people.
  3. Post consistently. The last thing you want is for readers to forget about you. You want to be the first person that comes to mind when they think about your subject. So make sure to post regularly, and it will serve you well.
  4. Collaborate with other bloggers. Too many people get the whole competition thing horribly wrong. There is enough business for everybody on this planet. Instead of waging war on other bloggers, you should collaborate with them and exchange services that would be mutually beneficial. This is how big YouTubers or Instagram influencers grow. They support one another, and it benefits everybody.
  5. Find some guest post opportunities. Guest posts can give you exposure to a new audience and attract more readers who, in turn, will attract other readers (if you applied rule 1 of this list).
  6. Make it easy for people to share your stuff. Make sure that the social media links are easily visible so that people can share. Also, please don’t go overboard and add every possible social media icon on the planet. If there are too many icons, people won’t share because of “analysis paralysis.” So only pick the social media sites that are relevant.
  7. Create powerful headlines. The headline is the equivalent of the subject line in an email. It has one function and one function only: get the person to click and read the first paragraph. Headlines in the form of questions tend to perform better than others. Try different headline types to determine which one seems to work best with your audience and then fine-tune your skills.
  8. Learn the basics of SEO. SEO (search engine optimization) is a very complex subject, and you need to do your own research. You don’t need to be the biggest expert on the planet when starting, but you should at least understand the basics to get better results. What does SEO do for you anyway? Well, it makes sure that if someone types, for example, “fitness blog” on Google, you appear as the first result, just so you understand the importance and the power of SEO. Whoever gets the first rank in Google takes 94% of the traffic. I repeat . . . 94%. If you are not on page 1, you get practically nothing of the remaining 6%. (I mean, how often do you check page 2 of Google?)
  9. Make it easy for readers to browse. Make it as easy as possible for readers to read your other blog posts. Make it easy for readers to find your blog home page, categories, tags, search bar, and so on. Adding related blog posts at the end of each publication is also recommended. There are WordPress plug-ins that do that very well.
