Today we are going to cover a feature that only a few people know about in Instagram….

There’s a feature that you have in Facebook that only a few people know about. I was very surprised to see that people didn't know about this. So as you know, Facebook purchased Instagram a few years ago. And since then they've been working on integrating Instagram with Facebook and everything.

And what happens is that you have the opportunity on your Facebook account to track the activity on Instagram. So the first thing you need to do is you need to connect your Instagram to a Facebook page. So I think before you could link it to a Facebook page but it wasn't mandatory. But I think that now you can change your Instagram account to business without having a Facebook page.

But anyway let’s do things in order. So you're going to create a Facebook page about your topic. So then what you're going to do is that you're going to the settings of your Instagram and if you look towards the bottom there should be something that says switch to business OK.

And once you've done this, it’s going to ask you to connect it to your Facebook account and select a Facebook page you want to link it to. OK. So you're going to link it to the page that you're using.

So why do you change your Instagram account to business. The reason is very simple. Once you're in business on Instagram then you have features that were not accessible for other people. So you'll see that once you change your account to business, on top of your profile you'll have metrics and you'll be able to see the demographics of people who are following you and where they're from.

If they're men and women. What time they usually connect and stuff like that and your number of impressions and everything. OK. So this is very good data that you can use afterwards for your targeting.

And second thing is that you don't need to put an email anymore in your description you know. Now that you're in business and you've connected your Instagram to your Facebook page, basically what it's going to do is that it's going to use whatever email address you configured on that Facebook page. OK.

And then you'll have a button that will appear on your profile that says. “Message”. So when people click there they can message you automatically which it makes things a lot easier for you.

So if you didn't know about this, I really suggest that you have an Instagram account. I really suggest you go and do this because, I mean it's free. It takes like five minutes to do and it will give you a lot of information on everything in your Instagram account and your audience.

But now there is also something that happens to your Facebook account. OK. So what happens in your Facebook account is that now all the information you have on Instagram can be tracked in Facebook. OK. So basically that means that if people interact with your Instagram account then you will know it on Facebook. Why is that information useful?

It's because you will be able to create audiences based on people who interacted with your Instagram. All right. So when I say your audiences, you can basically say well give me all the people who liked my stuff on Instagram and then from there you can do lookalike audiences. All right.

So this is super powerful. So you're building audiences without having to spend money. Because on Facebook, in order to create these audiences based on the people who will land on your site, you previously paid for ads to send people there. Then afterwards you create your lookalike audiences.

Whereas in this case you can build lookalike audiences at no cost from people going directly to your Instagram. OK. So this is super powerful and you need to be using this.

I need to tell you guys about it because I know only a few people know about that. So if you do have an Instagram account or you have a lot of traffic then your job is done. You can retarget these people on Facebook and you can find people exactly like them by using lookalike audiences.
