This is something that's really important. And the reason why it's important is because it's about you, OK? There is nothing more important than you.
Because very often when you're busy doing something right. You're working on a task. You have a job and stuff, and all you are thinking about is getting the job done. Your priority is to finish this task and then you're going to deal with the rest afterwards. And basically what happens is, are you too tired to deal with the rest. And it never gets done.
And there is one thing that people never do which is that they don't spend enough time making their life easier. I'm not saying that tasks are going to go away, but there might be an easier way for you to do it. And you should spend a little bit of time to make it easier for yourself.
How do I make it easy for myself? Because the easier it is, then the more efficient you're going to be and the more pleasant your life is going to be. OK, but we are always looking at the task that we have to do and stuff. And we're not necessarily looking at what how we make ourselves happy.
OK, at some point during the week, set some time aside to say, look, OK, how do I make my life easier? And this can transform your life because here's the thing. The problem is the urgency factor, right.
If there is an urgent task, then we think like this. This has to be done now. I don't have time to think about the rest. The rest is going to take some time. Well, let's say it takes an hour. I don't have an hour to look into that. I need to do that task now.
OK, maybe that hour that could save you hundreds or thousands of hours in the long run, you're not going to do it because there is this, like urgency that you need to deal with right now.
OK, now, why am I telling you this?
Because I typically do this right. But today I realized that there was there was something that I could have done ages ago, and I only did it today. OK, so the good news is I actually did it. But I could have done it like a lot sooner. And that would have saved me so much time.
And actually to find it, it took me five minutes, those five minutes that I didn't want to take because there was something urgent. OK, and now that I have this, honestly, it is going to save me and my team hundreds of hours and make our life a hundred times easier.
OK and these are the sort of things that you always put on the side because there are more important things to deal with. But trust me, this was the most important thing I did today, because from now on, not just for me, but for the team as well, if they need to scroll, then they just do this, etc. OK.
But see how it just something very, very small like this that took five seconds can actually dramatically, dramatically change your life because it's going to impact the pleasure that you actually take in doing your job.
How I divided my workload BY 30 in ONLY 5 minutes
So what I'm saying is the weight of the urgency, the thing that you think is urgent that has to be done now is actually less than finding a solution to make your life easier so that in the long run, everything will be easier and faster for you.
OK, so don't postpone these things anymore. Take some time at least during the week where you say, look, I am going to look at how I can make my life easier. Because, dude, you cannot even imagine how much this thing changed my life just today.
