Freedom Is A Choice: So choose wisely...
Welcome to the Freedom By Choice Podcast with your one and only hoste Martin. This podcast is reserved for freedom aficionados and entrepreneurs looking to create the lifestyle of their dreams.
In this podcast you will find all the support and answers you need to start, grow and scale a business that gives you the freedom you deserve.
I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.
I wanted to talk to you about a type of people that everybody forgets about and people don't actually know that they exist.
So let's say, for example, you are in that demographic, but you have no idea why. And sometimes it's actually not plaguing your life, but it's putting you down thinking that you don't have it when you actually have.
So anyway, it's a little bit cryptic, but I'm going to explain what I mean.
So I meet a lot of people who would like to be entrepreneurs. They obviously don't want all the risks, all the stuff that breaks all the time and all the uncertainty and stuff. People obviously don't want this, but they would like to be able to be an entrepreneur. And what does it mean for people to be an entrepreneur?
So this notion of digital nomad that didn't exist a few years ago now is pretty popular. Right. So if you ask someone what an entrepreneur is, that might be your definition.
There is this notion that you build a business from scratch and it's your business and all that kind of stuff. Right. But here's the thing. You may be in that case where you feel bad because some people are entrepreneurial and you're not. And you feel that they are better than you and all that kind of stuff.
I'm going to reveal something. There are two different things. Being an entrepreneur and having your own business, it is two different things. OK let me explain what I mean.
Let's say, for example, there is this big company, like Apple. The manager of this huge division is going to say, look, we need to innovate. We need something. Come up with something and these are the directions that you have.
So that person who works within Apple has to basically reinvent the future and how people behave, how people consume stuff, how people act, how people communicate and everything.
This is why you are probably more awesome than you think.
This person, even though they're working inside a company, well, it's not their company. Right. They didn't create the company. They didn't start the company from scratch. But they still need some vision. Right.
So they need a vision of, OK, this is what we're doing now. This is where I want the world to go.
So that person wasn't someone who created business from scratch and invented the mobile phone. It was someone, a visionary within a company that said this is where the innovation needs to go. This is my vision. I want people to be able to do this.
So these people, they have the same vision as someone that you typically refer to as an entrepreneur, the person who has their own business. So that's why I was telling you it has actually nothing to do with it.
So some of these people have the vision, they have the commitment, the commitment that's required to,ย you know, to take a vision and transform it into something. They have the innovation. They want to innovate. They want to change the world.
They see something. They see a better opportunity and stuff and they have to study their market. They have to see where the flaws are in the market and where the biggest opportunities on the market are.
So that's what people usually think about when they think about the employee. But you have this other kind of entrepreneur within an existing business and these people, they've done more remarkable things than a lot of entrepreneurs who have their own business.
So it may be you have been thinking so far, that, man my life is a mess, a failure because I don't have my own business and all that kind of stuff. I'm not an entrepreneur. I would like to be one. Well, chances are that you are an entrepreneur, especially if you're listening to this podcast.
I created this podcast for people who like to see what other angles are there. And they can use that knowledge to create something new, something better. And this is what entrepreneurs will do, OK, regardless if it's your business or not.
I so, you know, I hope it makes sense. And it's one of those notions that, again, only a few people kind of know about and respect.

The entrepreneur you have decided you are not
You have quietly decided you are not cut out for this. That belief is doing more damage than any skill you lack.
I meet people every week who are smarter, more disciplined, and more resourceful than founders I know who are already winning, and they will never start because a voice in their head says they are not the type. I know that voice. I had it too.
Here is what changed for me. I stopped waiting to feel ready and started collecting proof. Small wins, finished projects, problems solved. Confidence is not a trait you are born with. It is the residue of things you actually did.
The people who change the world are almost never the ones who felt qualified at the start. They are the ones who acted before they believed, and let the belief catch up.
This is backed by real research. Harvard Business Review has covered how self efficacy grows from action rather than pep talks, and Stripe Atlas keeps showing that successful founders come from every background, not a chosen few.
I tell my own from-scratch version in my story and keep the message going on the podcast. You are more capable than the story in your head.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do most people underestimate their entrepreneurial potential?
Most people compare their inner doubt to other people's polished outputs and conclude they are behind. The reality is that successful solopreneurs feel doubt too. The difference is they ship anyway. Treat doubt as a normal cost of building rather than a signal to stop.
What evidence should solopreneurs look at to gauge their potential?
Look at three signals: what people pay you for already, what you do for free that energizes you, and what skills compound across the work you produce. Where these three overlap is your highest leverage zone. Most entrepreneurs are sitting on this overlap and ignoring it because it feels too easy.
How do you overcome impostor syndrome as a solopreneur?
Build a track record of small completed projects. Impostor syndrome shrinks when you can point to ten things you finished. It does not shrink by reading more books or watching more courses. Action is the only proven cure. Ship one tiny thing per week and the feeling fades within a quarter.
What single habit separates awesome solopreneurs from average ones?
Public publishing. Awesome solopreneurs share work in progress, lessons learned, and unfiltered opinions. Average ones wait for everything to be perfect. Public publishing creates accountability, attracts opportunities, and accelerates learning by 10x because feedback arrives in days instead of years.
