Here is one of my favorite quotes:

โ€œSo often people are working hard at the wrong thing. Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard.โ€

Freedom Is A Choice: So choose wisely…

Welcome to the Freedom By Choice Podcast with your one and only hoste Martin. This podcast is reserved for freedom aficionados and entrepreneurs looking to create the lifestyle of their dreams.

In this podcast you will find all the support and answers you need to start, grow and scale a business that gives you the freedom you deserve.

I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.

You might know people or maybe that's you, right, where sometimes you're like, oh, man, I'm not in the mood to do this. I'm not in the mood to do that.

So let's say you have an objective that you want to reach. There's this business that you want to do. And yes, sometimes I mean, you just want to rest. You're not in the mood to go out and do this.

So you just postpone. OK, which is what happened to me yesterday. But if you postpone then are you actually going to do it?

My girlfriend, her mood swings a little bit more than mine, you know, and so very often she might tell me that, oh, man, I have to do this, but I'm just not in the mood to do it. And I'm in the mood to just lie in bed and stuff, you know?

And, you know, I'm trying to motivate her or something. But she's not in a mood, you know, and when you're like me, when your mood is pretty stable on time, then it's kind of hard to understand.

So there are different peoples with like different moods and stuff. But if there is one thing that I have that I've realized over the years is that the last thing you want to do is to wait until you're in the mood to do some work for whatever it is that you want to achieve.

OK, don't wait until you're in the mood because, dude, you are never, ever going to do it. And plus, people have mood swings. Your mood will swing. And if the mood is dictating when you are actually like moving towards your goal or something, dude, it's going to be a very rocky ride. It's going to take you forever to get there.

It is a problem with a lot of people who don't actually get the results that they want or as much progress as they want, because they make this crucial mistake of, oh, let me wait until I'm in the mood to go out and do it right.

So for me, to be honest, I do stuff not because I'm in the mood. I do stuff because I have an objective and some of these things have to be done to reach that objective. I'm trying to make sure that if I do it, it is something that I don't necessarily have to repeat too often, if possible.

How important is your mood for your success?

OK, so there are things that you will have to do every day and things that I tell you that you need to do every day, which is showing up OK, you need to show up every day so that, for example, I'm not going to be the ones telling you I'm trying to avoid doing this.

So I do this every day. But operational stuff that has to be done every day, I will try to make sure that I don't have to do it every day. I do it in one big batch and then I understand how that works automate it or outsource it and stuff.

But, well, trust me, it's not like I wake up and I'm like, man, I'm in the mood to do this and stuff. Now I just know that it has to be done. And I know that if I do it, then I can get rid of it and then I will reap the benefits of it for the rest of my life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does your mood actually affect business performance?

Mood drives decision quality, sales conversations, and content output more than most founders admit. Studies show negotiators in a positive state close roughly fifteen percent more deals. A bad mood week can quietly cost a small business several thousand dollars in lost momentum and rushed decisions.

How do top entrepreneurs manage bad mood days?

They protect them. No selling, no big decisions, no critical creative work. Instead, they batch admin, low risk tasks, and rest. Forcing yourself to perform high stakes work in a poor state usually produces results you must redo or apologize for later, which is the opposite of progress.

Can a positive mindset really change business results?

A positive mindset alone will not save a broken offer, but a stable mindset multiplies whatever the business is already doing. Founders who track mood weekly and adjust workload around it tend to ship more and burn out less. Mindset is the operating system, not the product.

What is the fastest way to reset a bad mood?

A twenty minute walk outside, ten minutes of slow breathing, or a short workout reliably shifts state for most people. Sugar, scrolling, and venting feel good but extend the slump. Pick one default reset, schedule it, and run it on autopilot the next time mood drops.

If Your Business Runs On Your Mood, It Does Not Run

I used to let my mood decide my day. Good morning, I worked hard. Bad morning, I found reasons to avoid the important things and called it self care. The problem is that moods are weather, they change constantly and answer to nobody, so a business tied to them is a business built on sand. The people who get somewhere are not in a good mood more often, they have simply removed mood from the equation by building habits and systems that fire whether they feel inspired or not.

So stop asking whether you feel like working and start building routines that carry you when the feeling is not there, because motivation is a visitor and discipline is a resident. The goal is to make the right action automatic, not emotional. I talk about doing the work on the days I did not want to on the Freedom by Choice podcast and in my own story. For the research, Harvard Business Review has covered how habits beat willpower, and McKinsey has studied how consistent routines drive long term performance.
