Freedom Is A Choice: So choose wisely…
Welcome to the Freedom By Choice Podcast with your one and only hoste Martin. This podcast is reserved for freedom aficionados and entrepreneurs looking to create the lifestyle of their dreams.
In this podcast you will find all the support and answers you need to start, grow and scale a business that gives you the freedom you deserve.
I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.
So let's say, for example, you're starting something new and you have this goal and this goal is huge. Right. So when you look at it, it looks like the Himalayas, right.
This is insurmountable. It's overwhelming. And you start thinking about all the reasons why you shouldn't do it because it's such a daunting task. So, again, weโve all been there. It's perfectly normal to have this.
So you will have to conquer that task or that mountain and itโs not necessarily going to be now, OK, so very often you start actually stressing and all that kind of stuff about something that's not going to happen now.
OK, nobody's asking you to go and conquer the whole mountain now when you are just getting started. So you have to understand that. There are some steps that you will actually have to take. So, you know, in the previous podcast, I told you, well, the main thing that you need to focus on is start just to start it.
OK, don't worry about that big mountain and all that kind of stuff. Please don't worry about that. It will come in time.
OK, so this friend of mine, the one thing that she's going through right now is that she sees this huge mountain there and it looks like incredibly daunting. And you can see other people around seem to have figured it out. And they're like miles and miles and miles away from you and you're like an idiot.

The secret to tackle insurmountable problems
So people have a selective understanding of the impact of time. They don't understand something. It's a very important concept.
So the concept is this, is that the person who's going to conquer that mountain, is not the person you are today. OK, by the time you get to that mountain, you will be a much better version of who you are right now.
OK, because since you're trying to prepare to tackle the mountain, then you're going to rub elbows with people who are more advanced than you like, more complex subjects than what you're used to. And basically what happens, it will rub off on you. And that means that you will grow as well.
OK, so time is going to affect you in a way that by the time you get there, you will be prepared, you will have far more knowledge and stuff. And who knows? Maybe that mountain that looks completely insurmountable will just look like a hill or maybe just like a bump on the road.
This is something that people always forget. You're just getting started today. There's no way you can conquer that mountain, right? It's not possible. And for whatever reason, you just forget about the fact that itโs not going to be today.
There is a certain gap between now and when this is going to happen and between this gap, dude, you learn stuff. You learn stuff every day. You will know far more than you know. You'll have solved far more problems.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you tackle a problem that feels impossible?
Break it into five sub problems, then break each sub problem into a forty minute first action. Most insurmountable problems are just a stack of unclear smaller ones. Spending ninety minutes on a written breakdown usually reveals that two of the five sub problems are already solvable today.
What framework breaks massive problems into solvable steps?
Use what is known, what is unknown, and what to test next. List every fact you have, every gap you do not, and the cheapest experiment that would close the biggest gap. Run the experiment within seven days. Most stuck founders are stuck because they have not run a real test in months.
How long should you spend on a single business problem?
Time box hard problems to two weeks of focused work. If no progress, change one variable, the team, the budget, the input, or the desired outcome, before pushing further. Problems that resist for months are usually wrong problems hiding a deeper one underneath.
When should you walk away from a problem instead of solving it?
When the cost of the next attempt is bigger than the value of solving it, or when three different approaches have failed. Walking away is not quitting if the problem is not load bearing. Reassign the energy to a higher leverage problem and revisit the old one in ninety days with new context.
Big Problems Are Just Small Problems That Were Never Broken Down
I used to freeze in front of problems that felt too big, staring at the mountain until the staring itself became the excuse not to start. What changed everything was realizing that no problem is actually insurmountable, it just has not been broken into pieces small enough to move. The mountain is a stack of stones. When I stopped trying to solve the whole thing and started solving the next single step I could actually see, the paralysis lifted and progress became boring and steady instead of impossible.
So when something feels too big to face, shrink it, split it, find the one piece you can finish today, and let momentum do the rest. Overwhelm is almost always a scale problem, not a strength problem. I talk about how I break down the things that used to stop me cold on the Freedom by Choice podcast and in my own story. For the research, Harvard Business Review has covered how breaking goals into small wins sustains progress, and McKinsey has studied how complex problems get solved through structured decomposition.
