I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.
Everybody has a to do list. OK, so you have this to do list and sometimes you're like, oh, let me download some software. I put it on my screen, will flash every five minutes to remind me, then I'll have to do it.
So you start putting stuff on the list and you realize that there is some stuff that you've been basically rewriting every single day. So you're moving this stuff from one day to the other. And I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.
So there is this task. You have to do it, but it sucks. You don't want to do it because it seems complicated, seems long. And there are other items on your list that you can tackle before that. They're easy to do and stuff. OK, so here's the problem.
And, you know, it's pretty easy to understand the problem. The problem is that these this stuff there, you will always find something easier to do and something that will take priority. OK, so why am I saying this? I'm saying this because I had a bunch of tasks like this on my own To-Do list that I just tackled.
Now, one was to resend a form for something I want to do, which is it's not really complicated to do. But I just thought it was going to take a lot of time. And the other one was to configure a SMTP funnel for some of my emails.
And I was like, oh, it’s going to be a massive, massive drag. So, you know, slowly but surely every single day I was like, Oh, I haven't done this. Let me put that on tomorrow's list. And every single day this thing is there. And next thing you know, after six months, this thing is still there because you go for the easy stuff first.
And to be honest, the time that you spend talking yourself out of it and finding excuses is more than if you actually went and did the task.
How to crack the code of the efficient to do list
It's fascinating how we all have this problem where we just prioritize. Well, it's not even prioritization. It's just an escape. Right. You're trying to get away with the easy stuff that's actually not that important. And you do that first.
So I just tackled two of those tasks and I'm actually very happy because I was just dragging them week after week and stuff and now it's done. And it was a lot faster than I thought.
So my advice for you is this. Try to do the hard stuff. I mean, the quote unquote hard stuff, because you might realize that it's not actually as hard as you thought it was.
Look at your to do list now. Take those items that you've been moving from one day to the other and you do them now. Just do them and you will realize that it will take you five minutes that you could have taken like three months ago because you just thought it was going to take a year to do it.
OK, so, yeah, go ahead and do this and try to apply this logic there for a week and you will see the big changes that you'll have in your productivity and stuff because you're going to be able to get a lot more stuff done.
