FBC – 172 – Want to be on the show?

What if you could have a chance to be on the show? I am thinking of a way to give you a platform to have your voice heard.

Most podcasts only feature people who have already made it. The Freedom By Choice podcast is different. In this episode, I announce a new format where everyday people who are just starting their entrepreneurial journey can come on the show, share their story, and get their voice heard.

So what I'm thinking about doing is to change the format a little bit. I'm still debating and considering it. But what I want to do is to be able to put up a contact. So a contact number for like submission for people who want to actually be on the podcast. And basically what I will do is that I will organize a call where we're just going to talk about, you know, what they're doing and, you know, all that stuff.

And then this is going to be recorded and this is going to be on the podcast. It's a little bit more organization. So this is something I'm really, really considering right now, because it was a promise of mine and I like to keep my promises right.

One thing that I don't like about other podcasts, I guess. I mean they're good things are bad things. Right. But in other podcasts, you only have people who are already made it, you know. So, I mean, there is a good reason why they're there because they can tell you how they did it. Right.

But it creates a vicious circle so that you people who didnโ€™t make it yet. You don't have a voice. You know, you are not invited on any podcasts. I can have people who are just starting up. I want to be able to talk to people who haven't started yet and they want to start. Because this is interesting, if you're in the same position, you know, to hear about other people who are in the same mix as you are.

Right now maybe you're in a specific phase of your life and you might want to hear from people were in the same phase. Right. So I would like to be able to have people who are thinking about starting a business and stuff. I have questions that you have as well. All right. So that's the first thing.

Second thing, people who are just starting out. When you first start doing things and you start realizing all sorts of challenges. And very often you want to give up and stuff like that. So if you're in that position right now, it will be really nice to hear from people who are in the same place as you are.

You know, you're learning it's the learning curve and stuff. It's scary. And it's hard to stay passionate. Gee, fascinating as well, because you learn stuff.

I want people who have a business. They had a little bit of success and they want to scale it and stuff. And then people who are ready made it. They had great success over the years and stuff. And they can tell you stuff, you know. So that's the full range of what I want.

I would also like to have some people who are like, you know what? Creating a business is B.S. I'm against it and all that stuff. You know, I would very much like to have people like that as well. I mean, I don't think they will listen to the podcast if it was the case.

Key Insight: The podcast industry has a representation problem. Shows only feature people who are already successful, creating a vicious cycle where beginners never get a platform. Giving aspiring entrepreneurs a voice is just as valuable as interviewing millionaires.

Key Insight: If you are at the beginning of your journey and you feel like nobody is listening, that does not mean your story is not worth telling. The people who relate to you the most are the ones in the exact same position, and they need to hear from someone who looks like them, not just from people who are already at the finish line.

But it's always interesting to, you know, to understand the perspective of someone on the other side of the spectrum. Right. Because everybody is right in their own mind. Right. So as much as you don't have to agree on something, maybe you could understand where they're coming from and stuff.

And yeah, you can talk about it. I mean, the aim is not the end of the discussion to, you know, swing one towards the other extreme or whatever. It's just to understand where people are coming from. So this is something I'm really, really thinking about because it's a problem. It was a promise of mine when I started the podcast for everybody to be able to have the voice and I want to make it happen.

Why unfinished stories are the ones worth hearing

Most business podcasts only book people who already made it. I wanted the opposite. The person still in the mess, still figuring it out, tells you more than the polished winner ever will. I have recorded 578+ episodes of the Freedom by Choice podcast, and the ones people email me about are almost never the famous guests. They are the ones who sound like the listener.

Here is why that matters for you, not just for the show. A finished story teaches you the ending. An unfinished one teaches you the decision being made right now, while it is still uncertain. That is the part you can copy. I collect these conversations on the Freedom by Choice podcast, and I break down the lessons from them in my growth hacking playlist on YouTube.

The pull of relatable stories is not sentiment. Work on narrative and persuasion from Harvard Business Review shows why we trust people mid-struggle, and audience research from HubSpot Research keeps confirming that authenticity out-converts polish. So if you are still building, your story already has value. Send it. The middle is the useful part.
