Join for $9 →I wanted to tell you about a really quick quote that I read a few days ago, and I don't remember who said that. It was some Singer. I don't remember exactly who said that. So the quote said this, โeverybody dies, but not many people liveโ.
Right. Which is a very simple quote. But when you think about it, it's actually very, very deep and very true. Right. Because while, unfortunately, you and I are going to die. So it's kind of inevitable. But a lot of people will actually go through life without actually, you know, living the life they were meant to live.
They will do a good job they don't want to do or never found their passion or they've never actually chased dreams or anything. And itโs pretty sad. And that's actually the great majority of people. We're actually going to go through life without experiencing what it means to, you know, have a dream and chase it, you know.
So my choice was, you know what, I decided to live, right. So the life that I have right now is the life that's perfect for me. Right? It might not be the life that's perfect for other people. But you know what? I don't care. The life I'm living today is the life that I want. It's good for me.
I am very happy with what I do, what I'm able to be able to achieve, everything I've been able to achieve, the result of choices that I made. Because I decided that I was going to live on my own terms, not anybody else's terms. And I was just going to put the effort to it.
So what is โliving?โ Living is being able to choose. You have a choice. You choose what you want to do when you want to do it and stuff. Right. Itโs not the case for a lot of people. You're dependent on the boss. The money, the time constraints. And you're doing stuff that you absolutely hate because you have to.
You know, when you're on your deathbed, having all this remorse and stuff or regrets. ย I should have tried this, I should have tried. Right. But do you want to have that? Because I don't think you're ever going to regret anything you have tried and pursued until the end. Right. I really don't think that will be against me. I don't regret anything I've tried. Right.
Because I've always learned something. I'm pretty sure that you'll regret stuff that you should have tried. And you realize that, you know, I was too lazy to do it. And the only thing I did was find excuses, which, you know, just so many people just find excuse after excuse.
And then they end up having a life where they're not fulfilled. And that life will suck until the day they die. Right. So I don't want you guys to be in that category of people. Right. I want you guys to go after what you want. And to actually live the experience.
People think that life is so complicated. Oh man. You need that much money and you need this and you need the big house and stuff. No life is fulfilling when you get to do what you want. All right. It doesn't matter if thereโs a big house. If you have a car, etc.

Trust me, there is nothing more fulfilling and nothing that will make you happier than living, you know, the life that you've built yourself. And youโre very proud of what you've built.
So anyway, the lesson here is don't go through life having stuff being imposed on you. Right. I want you to start living. All right. Because, again, as the quote said, everybody dies. Right. Everybody. We will all die. It's inevitable. But you're going to be special if you live a fulfilling life. And that's what I want for you.
So, yes, look at your life right now and start asking yourself, well, am I living someone else's life or am I just going through life. Do you want to change that? If you want to change it, then you need to put in some efforts. I'm not saying it's going to be easy. Right. Nobody says it's going to be easy. And that's the excuse that a lot of people have. You just need to put a little bit of effort into it and you'll be able to make it happen.

The freedom test I run on my own life
Everybody dies, but not many people live. That line stuck with me for a reason. It is easy to build a business that quietly becomes another cage. I run four companies from Bali specifically so the business serves the life, not the other way around. If it stopped doing that, I would tear it down.
Here is the test. Look at your last free afternoon. Did you spend it on something that was actually yours, or on obligations you inherited and never questioned? I ask myself that monthly. When the honest answer is obligations, I cut something. You are more useful to everyone around you when you are fulfilled than when you are bitter and busy. The full backstory sits in my story, and I unpack the systems that buy that freedom in my growth hacking playlist on YouTube.
This is not just motivation. The research on autonomy and meaning from Harvard Business Review ties freedom of choice to real performance, and the founder guides at Stripe Atlas keep reminding owners why they started. Run the test this week. Cut one thing that was never yours.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it actually mean to “live” versus just going through life?
Living means making deliberate choices about how you spend your time rather than defaulting to what others expect. It is the difference between designing your days around what fulfills you and simply following a script written by your job, your family, or society.
How do I figure out what kind of life I actually want?
Start by paying attention to what excites you when no one is watching. Strip away the goals that were handed to you by others and ask yourself what you would chase if money and opinions were not factors. That honest answer is your starting point.
Is it selfish to prioritize living on your own terms?
No. Living on your own terms is not about ignoring responsibilities or hurting people. It is about refusing to sacrifice your entire life for expectations that were never yours to begin with. You are far more useful to the people around you when you are fulfilled rather than bitter and resentful.
What if I feel like it is too late to start living the life I want?
It is never too late. The regret of never trying will always outweigh the discomfort of starting late. Even small steps toward the life you want will create more satisfaction than years spent on autopilot.
