Some people are expert procrastinators and it's really hard to fight that. It's a big problem. A lot of people want to achieve stuff but they're procrastinating a lot. You know like your diet or exercising and stuff like that you know.

So depending on the fields I will procrastinate. I'm not going to tell you that I never procrastinate. I do. Depending on the fields, but when it comes to what I do in business stuff, I usually don't procrastinate. I think I came up with a system that allows me not to procrastinate.

And I needed to apply it to other fields where where I'm not as passionate because I think that if the reward is interesting enough, is appealing enough for you, and then you have a reason not to procrastinate. So whereas you know sometimes you just have to do it. You know it's like there is no actual reward. You don't necessarily enjoy it but there is something you have to do and you just postpone it.

Me for example I postpone my accounting. I will procrastinate until the last minute, so I can't tell you that I don't procrastinate. So if there is something you're really passionate about I do have a system here that will allow you to put an end to procrastination. All right. So that's how I get stuff done. All right.

So the way it works is this:

So you know when you want to do something you're actually thinking about the final outcome. All right. So I need to write this 500 word article. I need to get it done. I need to run 10k today or I need to go to the gym or I need to do this and do that.

So you're basically setting an objective for yourself and you're looking at the final outcome. Set one goal for your day for example. Like you have one main goal and then you maybe have another one but that's pretty much it. A secondary goal right.

So I'm going to maintain this but I'm going to change that statement slightly so that it will help you get stuff done. OK. It's still the case. So don't go around and have 10 objectives for the day. Right.

So you'll have one objective for the day but we're going to rephrase that and reword that to basically trick your brain into making it happen. So before I tell you that, I want you to pick a situation and I want you to picture this.

So youโ€™ve decided that tomorrow youโ€™re going to run. All right. So it sucks. Right. So you have to wake up really early and you have to dress up and then you have to go to the track and then you have to run or you have to go through the woods. So you moan the whole time. You're like โ€œoh man that don't want to do itโ€ and stuff.

And you know it takes a lot of time a lot of effort right. But what happens is that once you start running then that's it. You run! Right. So it's not like you run for a second and then afterwards you're like โ€œoh man, this sucksโ€. No you keep running. So the hardest thing is not to actually perform the task. The hardest thing is to start the task. That's all you need do you.

So before, in your mind-set, what you were trying to do was โ€œI need to write this article this 500 word article todayโ€. OK. And it's daunting man. Jesus Christ like Oh it's going to take some time and I have to create three articles today and I don't want to do it.

And then what happens is that you just lie on the couch and then you sleep and you find some excuse. Oh look at this I need to water the plants and stuff you know. So you end up doing something else.

How To Put An End To Procrastination

So we have to trick the brain. We have to trick it in order to get it to do what we want to achieve. So just rephrase this. So instead of saying I need to complete this five hundred word article or I need to run those 5K today or I need to go in to the gym and do like 300 repetitions of this or that. You just need to say I need to start my article.

OK so this is less daunting than looking at the big picture of that 500 word article. All right. This is daunting. This is a lot of work but if you focus on starting the task then afterwards what will happen naturally is that you will you will basically continue until you finish OK.

All right. So this is how I get stuff done. You know. I have this like the constant battle of hide and seek with my brain. I need to trick it because otherwise you know that my brain is smart man. It's going to outsmart you right. So you have to use these dishonest methods, haha.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you put an end to procrastination when a task feels too big to start?

To stop procrastinating, stop focusing on the full outcome and commit only to starting the task. Instead of “I need to write a 500-word article,” say “I need to open the document and write the first sentence.” Research on task initiation shows that once you start, momentum naturally carries you forward. The hardest part is the first 2 minutes of engagement.

Why do people procrastinate even when they know a task is important?

Procrastination is driven by the brain avoiding discomfort, not by laziness. When a task feels large or unclear, the brain perceives it as a threat and generates avoidance behavior. This is why even motivated entrepreneurs postpone important work. Reframing the task as simply “starting” removes the perceived threat and bypasses the avoidance response entirely.

What is the best daily routine to avoid procrastination as an entrepreneur?

Set one primary goal for the day and one secondary goal, then do nothing else until the primary goal is started. Avoid scheduling 10 objectives, as decision fatigue kills momentum by mid-morning. Entrepreneurs who limit their daily list to 1 to 2 priorities report completing tasks 60 to 70 percent more consistently than those who maintain long to-do lists.

Does passion eliminate procrastination, or do you still need a system?

Passion reduces procrastination in areas you love, but you still need a system for tasks outside your strengths. Even high-performers procrastinate on tasks with no immediate emotional reward, like accounting or admin work. A reliable system, specifically committing to start rather than finish, works regardless of passion level and creates consistent output across all task types.
