I was helping the girlfriend with her new brand and we were talking about the concept of dependencies. This one I actually want to talk about. So the dependency is this.
So let's say, for example, you have a bike. And you need to put some air in your tires before you can actually ride the bike. OK. So that means you riding the bike depends on task number one, which is put air in the tires. Right. If you don't have that, then you can't move forward.
So in your activity, you might have some dependencies. OK. And the reason why I'm talking about this is to arm you with everything you need to handle it correctly.
And this is a big problem that I see with people sometimes is that there is one task, for example finding the name of the brand. OK, so the name of the brand might not seem like a big task or something.
But here's the thing. Well, if you donโt have a name for the brand, then you can't make the logo. And then getting the domain name, getting the social media accounts, everything revolves around finding that name. And until we find the name we canโt go forward with the rest. OK. So this is the concept of dependencies.
Your Productivity Can't Increase Unless You Master This Basic
And what do you do with dependencies? Please understand that until you do that one task, you can't make any progress. All right. So you know what you have to do? You have to suck it up. You have to suck it up and make sure you finish this task as soon as possible, because everything depends on it.
So when you're selecting the tasks, very often what you do is you look at your to do list and you'll pick up the easiest stuff. And then afterwards, at the end of the day, that task, which, you know, has dependencies, may be a hard one.
You keep postponing and postponing and postponing because it's hard and you always go for the easy stuff. But here's the thing. Until you've done that, then you're screwed. And you have to tackle this one because so many things depend on it.
When you look at the tasks on your to do list, just put another column and you put dependencies on it. OK. And you list whatever is dependent on that task. And if there is anything dependent that you need for your business, you need to suck it up. And you need to actually do that task. OK.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the basic productivity skill that most entrepreneurs are missing?
The foundational productivity skill most entrepreneurs overlook is ruthless prioritization: deciding what not to do before deciding what to do. Without this, every task feels equally urgent and your focus becomes fragmented. Entrepreneurs who master this single skill consistently report completing 3 times more meaningful work per day than those who operate from a reactive to-do list approach.
Why can't you increase productivity by just working harder or longer?
Working harder or longer hits a biological ceiling fast. The human brain can maintain deep focus for only 90 to 120 minutes before cognitive performance drops sharply. Beyond that, extra hours produce diminishing returns and increase error rates by up to 50%. Sustainable productivity growth requires smarter systems, not more willpower applied to the same broken workflow.
What foundational habits build a high-productivity routine?
High-productivity routines are built on 3 foundations: a consistent start ritual that signals focus mode, time-blocking for deep work in your peak energy window (usually the first 2 to 3 hours of the day), and a clear shutdown protocol that closes the workday mentally. These 3 habits alone can add 2 focused productive hours daily without working a single extra minute.
How do you measure whether your productivity is actually improving?
Track your output, not your hours. Each week, record the number of meaningful tasks completed, revenue-generating actions taken, and projects moved forward. If those numbers grow while your working hours stay flat or decrease, your productivity is genuinely improving. Most entrepreneurs never measure this, so they never know if their productivity system is actually working or not.
