Today we are going to discuss what good and constructive feedback can do for you, for your business and for your bottom line. This can make the difference between an okayish business and a very profitable business.
So the subject of the podcast for today is going to be feedback. Okay because. So I met with Connor and Ellen and I told them about what I'm working on. So that's the relationship I have with them. We're really open about what we're doing. We're asking each other some advice and stuff. You know what. They're way better than me at managing Facebook groups. They're really good at it, so I went to them for some advice.
I was like Well okay. So this group you know how does that work? What's the philosophy behind it? I really wanted to understand how they manage this thing. And so I told them all you know what I'm working on a new funnel too, well basically get my group out there. And they were like oh you know what. Well send us the URL and I'll have a look and we can tell you what we think, which was really cool.
So I sent them my funnel, the landing page and all that stuff and they sent me some amazing feedback which I acted upon. Now whenever I learn something, I want to implement it now. And that's the reason why I wanted to do an episode about feedback, because very often when you do something, you only have your pair of eyes.
You're trying to be as objective as possible so you try to put yourself in somebody else's shoes and stuff like that but whatever happens, it’s still you. Okay. And having someone with a fresh pair of eyes looking at it, as someone who's not you and is different from you, can get some really good feedback and that's what I got from them. I'm very happy because I think it made it a lot better.
So what you want is constructive feedback and objective feedback. All right. So what I would suggest is don't ask someone who works for you to give you feedback. So obviously you're their boss. What I suggest is showing this to likeminded people.
Because most people when you ask them to look at something, will just click on it and then say “oh man I love it. It's awesome. Man you rock” right. Cause me what I like to do is when people send me something, I will look at it in detail and I will send them some constructive feedback about it. OK. I’ll test everything and I will send them a video back. You need to have people like this in your life.
And one thing I told you is that on different markets you have people competing, like you know the battle, people hate each other and nobody works together. And I really think you should work with other people. I mean they're not competitors. I mean these guys they do this. There are things I do and even though we're doing the same things, there's no like competition and I think I explained that to you.
The Importance Of Good Constructive Feedback
There is just some healthy motivation when you talk to people like this and these are the people you need to go to and ask them well do you mind checking my stuff and telling me what you think? The reason why I went to them is because they're the best people I know for Facebook groups.
They mastered this thing. I mean these guys are awesome with Facebook groups and so they know the psychology of why people will join the groups and all that stuff. And the wording and stuff.
And so that's why you want some feedback from other people. You know people other than you because while obviously you're the one who wrote that stuff and you're pretty biased and set in your ways. I mean whether you want it or not, when you write something it’s your whole life that's in there.
You know your old experience, your own feelings or philosophy and everything you know so it's you. Nobody has the exact same field of philosophy as you. Right. So even if you try really hard, it's hard to separate yourself from that and you need people to read your stuff and tell you “you know what? Just make it a little bit more about them.
So that's a very good lesson. Guys for today it's a very good lesson to try to find people in your life that you can go to and you can be there for them as well if they need you. Have a look at something. Take the time to really look at it and send back some constructive criticism.
