I wanted to tell you about a rule that I that I read about that's pretty cool. It's called the five five rule.
So it basically says that whatever you're upset about is not going to matter in five years, then don't spend more than five minutes being upset about it. And this thing is so true. I mean, Dale Carnegie wrote the book called Stop Worrying and Start Living or something.
It's really, really cool. I love it. And it shows you that you the worry and all stuff, the anxiety. It's actually in your head. I don't know if you've noticed when you have problems. If you just stop thinking about them and just do something else, they seem to go away. I mean, sometimes you can't get rid of the problem, but most of the problems we have are actually in our head.
Sometimes you'll just waste all your precious time being worried or upset about something. So let's say you have six thousand four hundred dollars in your account and someone comes into your account and steals ten dollars out of it. What do you do then? You still have six thousand three hundred and ninety. Right. Would you just throw all of that away and start chasing that dude who took you 10 bucks? Probably not.
You will still keep your six thousand three hundred and ninety dollars. Right. So that's the analogy with the time you have. Because very often you have an interaction with some idiot who’s going to take ten seconds of your time, and is going to do something crazy, and then you will waste the remaining seconds you have during the day obsessing about it and being mad about it and all that stuff when in other circumstances you wouldn't do it.
This 5/5 Rule will save your sanity.
Don’t waste the rest of your day for like one minute of interaction with some idiot. Just keep going with your day. And also, you know, there are some things that seem quite bad today. Do you remember, especially when you're a teenager, your first breakup? You were like, oh, life is over. I don't want to live anymore.
Well, it didn't matter five years afterwards. It didn't. A lot of these things didn't matter. And yeah. I mean, gee, now, before you get upset about something, you just ask yourself, in five years, is that going to matter?
If it's not if it falls in the category of not really, then don't obsess about it. Life's too short to waste your vital energy on that kind of stuff. You know, if it's something that's going to penalize you for the rest of your life and all that stuff, yes, you have the right to. But if it's like some petty things, you know, and what's funny is that the bigger the things are, the less upset we are about it, meaning that we get upset about the tiniest and most stupid things ever.
If you look at the arguments you have. Ninety nine point nine percent of it is for pretty little things that actually don't matter and are completely irrelevant.
But this is where most of your stress goes. So yeah. Keep your, your sanity. Those things that don't matter please don't get upset about them. If it's something major and stuff that will matter in five years then be my guest and think about it. But don't waste the rest of your day on it. Right.
