I want to tell you about something that will increase your chances of being in contact with very successful people and your chances of success, because proximity is power.
If you're around people who are successful, people who are doing great things, then it will rub off on you. And you learn a lot. OK, so this is one of the skills I think nobody talks about and some people just don't have it.
And very often it’s beginners that don't necessarily have this. It's an unspoken rule. There is something that's non-renewable and has the highest value for me and that’s your time. OK, your time once it’s gone, it's gone. OK, so time is very valuable. It's not money and stuff. It's a hundred times more valuable than money because money can come and go. Your time doesn't.
You should do everything in your power to make sure that you’re protecting your time. And you have to spend as little time as possible doing operational stuff so you can focus on the strategy. OK, so the thing is that the same way that your time is valuable, please understand that other people's time is valuable.
And this is a philosophy or a kind of skill that a lot of people don't have, especially when they're just starting.
Let's say, for example, you have the chance to get, I don't know, like Bill Gates, his phone number, and you keep calling the guy. Oh, how do I do a capital on the keyboard? Â What do you think he is going to do after one answer? That person is going to block you forever. They have other things to do. And your chances of success long in the long run. Well, they basically they go to hell.
OK, so if you have a mentor or if someone is showing you the ropes and stuff, please understand something. You have to treat this as emergency. No, you don't call 911 or whatever the number is in your country every five minutes for everything. No, you call the cops when you absolutely need the cops.
And this is the same way you should be treating someone who's teaching you stuff and just being a mentor to you. All right.
This is more precious than YOUR time..
This is crucial in a relationship that you might have with successful people, because they if they understand that you respect their time, they are going to respect you and they're going to go out of their way to help you.
If they feel that it's not the case, then that's it. They're never going to talk to you again.
So if we're in a training environment or something, there are no dumb questions. OK, so if you don't know something, then I'm here and we're going over something by any means, please ask. But then once I have given you the information and stuff and you're faced with a very, very small problem, something that doesn't even require any expertise or anything to fix, I expect you to find the answer for yourself, not call me every five minutes with like, oh, how do I do the dollar sign on a keyboard?
Even though they're very successful, they're successful because they're passionate about what they do and because they're still working on their craft. So these people are busy. They don't have time for questions that you could actually solve yourself with a little bit of, like, common sense. So it is a very, very valuable lesson.
So this is how you maintain the relationship with successful people and how, if you maintain that relationship, what does it mean? It means that you’re still in contact with these people and then proximity is power. You are increasing your chances to make it in the long run because you have them on your side.
