This is my honest Similarweb review.
Similarweb is a pretty awesome tool. I use it very often in my business for research purposes.
It comes in very handy when doing competitive research. But, I discovered that you can also use it for so many other things than just competitive research.
It’s a free tool so you can do a certain number of searches per day for free, before you actually have to pay. I have been using it for years and never encountered a situation where I maxed out the number of searches I was allowed to do during the day.
And frankly, it’s not like I’m doing competitive research every day either. All you have to do is enter a domain name in the search box. For example something like “digitalmarketer.com”.
Similarweb is then going to give you lots of the data they have on digitalmarketer.com.
- Global ranking
- Country ranking
- Monthly traffic
- Bounce rate.
- Acquisition channels
- Main countries of operations
You could actually compare it with your own site.
If this is your competitor then you'll be able to uncover secrets about their strategy and use it to your advantage.
Using Similarweb, I've recently discovered that a lot of marketers are targeting Brazil and Argentina and also the main traffic sources that they use.
social traffic is even broken down into individual networks like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Youtube etc… It’s a real gold mine. This is a good indicator of where to focus your marketing budget to acquire new clients
You can see a sample of the websites that are sending them traffic.
Then you might want to liaise with these websites, understand what they do, and figure out how they could send YOU traffic too.
You can also see where people going off to after visiting your website. There is a reason why people are going there, so it’s a good opportunity for you to check them out and see how they could return the favor.
You also have search-related information: The list of organic keywords that the site ranks for.
This can also be useful information as well.
Again you can get all that information the free version. There are so many things you can learn from this free tool.
So just go and knock yourself out and do that your competitive research.
And that can help you a lot in your business.
