I have a quote that I really like, and it's very, very true. And I want you to listen and to hear this quote before it's too late, before you really realize it in like 50 years or something. OK, so this is a quote from Winston Churchill.

And he said, when you're 20, you care what everybody thinks. When you're 40, you stop caring what everybody thinks. When you're 60, you realize that no one was ever thinking about you in the first place.

And I mean it's so powerful. It's really cool. So I'm not going to reveal how old I am because that's not the point of the cast. But here's the thing. I told you that when I was younger, I was so shy. I mean, Jesus Christ, I was really shy. And for whatever reason, I really thought that people had nothing else to do than to look at me and to analyse what I was doing.

So I had to be very careful all the time and stuff. And that's why I didn't want to say anything. I didn't want to mess up anything. And it plagued my life right. I was worrying too much about what these people were thinking.

So you may be thinking that everybody's looking at you. And even worse, I mean, today with social media, right. With social media, it gets even worse because there are so many accounts. For example, Instagram has become for me the temple of like narcissism. ย There are one point five billion people in there.

So some people might be watching your Instagram once in a while, and have nothing else to do than to look at you, OK. And you spend a precious amount of time second guessing yourself and doing things that are not you. They're not natural to you because you think that people are watching it. So you kind of lose yourself. It's a lot of drama, a lot of stress, a lot of paranoia for nothing.

Stop worrying about what people think!

Dude, I'm at a stage where I don't care. I really don't care what people are thinking. I'll sleep at night and the sun is going to shine tomorrow regardless what Bob is thinking, you know, and I thought this was the ultimate level of wisdom. You know, now the hell will be what people care. I'll just do what I want.

So it could very well be the case that as much as you think people were watching you. ย I mean, everybody has their problems. You have problems in your life, right? You have problems. You have goals. There are a lot of things going on that you donโ€™t have time to think about.

You might think about Bob, you know, once in a while or something like that. But do you spend your whole twenty four hours thinking about Bob? No, you don't.

So, you know, before you waste your energy and your time on non-productive and I would say negative things like this, you know, this negative energy. Just put it into something constructive. Just put it in whatever it is that you want to do.

The ultimate level is, these people, they might be mad at you for like maybe like one day, two days and stuff. But then they have their life. They're not thinking about you. So just go do your stuff.

The fact that I was that shy and stuff like that, it made me a lot stronger than a lot of people around me were. The thing that it taught me was. Yeah, first of all, I learned how to listen because I had to figure out when it was my time to jump in so I'd learn how to listen and to observe.

It made me it made me a lot less vulnerable to things like this, like blackmailing and an emotional terrorism of I'm going to leave you if you don't get it, dude. Here's the door. That's it. You know what I mean?

Don't spend your vital energy on these kinds of things, you know, just focus on the positive. And something might seem negative in the beginning. There is always a learning lesson, something that makes you stronger.

Life doesn't get easier, nothing gets easier. You just get stronger. And all these things will help you. So just understanding the fact that nobody cares. People have their own problems. Don't waste your time worrying about other people. Do your stuff, go towards your goal and that's pretty much it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you actually stop worrying about what other people think of you?

Track who pays you, refers you, or works with you, then realize the critics are almost never on that list. I keep a one page document with the names of my top twenty customers and refer back whenever someone unrelated leaves a harsh comment. The exercise rebuilds context in three seconds and ends the spiral before it eats my workday.

Why does caring too much about other people's opinions hurt your business?

Caring too much about other opinions slows decisions, dilutes your offer, and pushes you toward safer products that excite nobody. The brands and creators winning today made one polarizing choice early and defended it for years. If you try to please everyone, you build a brand nobody remembers, and forgettable brands die because nobody chooses them on purpose.

What practical habits help entrepreneurs stop overthinking other people's criticism?

Limit social feed time to thirty minutes daily, mute notifications, and run a weekly review of customer feedback only from buyers. I also write a short list of three operating principles I will never compromise on, and I read it every Monday. Those guardrails make criticism land softer because I already know which feedback matches my goals.

How do you tell the difference between useful feedback and noise to ignore?

Useful feedback comes from people who have used your product, paid you, or share your goals. Noise comes from strangers reacting to a headline. I weigh feedback by skin in the game. A paying customer email outweighs ten random tweets. Build a simple filter that scores feedback by source, and act only on signals that pass that threshold.
