What would you answer if your uncle Bob suddenly asked you, during a family dinner, what your biggest achievements in the last two years were?
Ok that damn uncle Bob I know, what kind of question is that?
But seriously, what criteria would you use to gauge your achievements?
There are a lot of variables that come into play so how does one weigh them to come up with an answer?
In this episode, I am going to share with you my biggest achievements and they might surprise you.
My friend, I was the first one surprised by my own answer when I started thinking about it.

Freedom Is A Choice: So choose wisely...

In this podcast you will find all the support and answers you need to start, grow and scale a business that gives you the freedom you deserve.
I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.
I wanted to talk to you about some of my achievements. Just like inspiration and feedback that I got from people.
So my really good friend Collin started this podcast recently and so we were talking today. I was sending him some feedback and he told me that the reason why he actually started the podcast was because of one of my podcasts and one topic that actually resonated with him.
And I was very flattered. I was like, oh, this is really cool.
So it turns out that what I said about not coming out of this crisis without a new skill, without something else that you've tried and something where you got better at is something that he really took to heart. And he said, you know what, let me go and do it right.
And I really love the way he did it because very often, we wait until everything is perfect, until we are the expert, until we know how to do it and all that kind of stuff. And I think that more often than not, unless you're a heart surgeon or like a brain surgeon or something, in most cases, don't need to know exactly how you're going to do it. Go do it!
Once you've started, then you will deal with those things, if you don't start, then you can always postpone. And now I'm not going to do it and stuff. And please trust me when I say this.
A lot of people, when they start something for the first time, they have no idea what they're going to do. They have some vague plan, but there is a lot of improvisation and actually reacting to the market. So don't wait until you have all the information and stuff because you're not going to have all the information.
The market's going to give you all the information. Those of you guys, who are on the fence, just do like my buddy Colin. He went for it. He started it. And I think he's recording an episode every day now, which is pretty cool.
It could seem very daunting and stuff. The first one might be a little bit daunting, but then afterwards, dude, you're into it, right. And you start doing it.
So Iโm very flattered and very honoured that my podcast was instrumental in helping him get started.
What was your biggest achievements in the last 2 years?
And it's funny because this morning I was thinking what are you most proud of? ย Something that you've achieved in like this year or in the last two years or something. My answer and itโs a genuine answer. An honest answer that came straight away was very surprising for me, because if you had asked me that two years ago, the answer would have been very different.
There are two things that I'm very, very proud of, like more than anything. And it's very fascinating to me. The first one is one of the girls at basketball.
The first time she came, she couldn't break out of her shell. ย She couldn't look at me, look at me in the eye. She was very shy. She was very, like closed in on herself, you know, and not necessarily engaging and not smiling, not having fun and stuff.
And slowly but surely she just bloomed and now she's running all over the place. Sheโs making jokes. She's making fun of me as well. And she's laughing. But from what my friends, Claire and Richard told me, she was pretty much like this as well outside the basketball.
But thanks to the atmosphere that we've been able to create she was able to transform and become a happy girl.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it hard to remember your own achievements at year end?
Because the human brain weights losses three times heavier than wins and weights the last two weeks heavier than the previous fifty. A handful of recent stresses crowds out twelve months of progress. A written log fixed across the year fixes this in twenty minutes per Sunday.
What is the best format for an honest annual review?
Three columns. What I built. What I learned. What I stopped doing. Most people only count the first column and underweight the other two. Quitting a bad relationship, a draining client, or a dying project is a real achievement that the brain refuses to score. Score it anyway.
How do you separate noise wins from real progress?
A real win moves the next year's options. A noise win produces applause and disappears. If the achievement does not change what you are able to attempt in the next twelve months, label it noise. The list of real wins is shorter than the social feed but it is the one that compounds.
What achievements matter most for a solo founder?
Anything that changed the underlying machine. A new revenue stream, a customer acquisition channel that paid, a system that runs without you, a skill that opened a door. These compound. One-off launches do not, even when the headline numbers are loud.
