I have compressed years of trials and errors, into easy to consume episodes, to take you from where you are now, to where you want to be.

When I'm doing my exercises, I'm listening to a book at the same time. So I get two things done at once.
So I just heard a piece on multitasking and a lot of people ask, what is your take on multitasking? So I want you to gather your thoughts and be like, oh, is it good, is it bad? OK, so maybe there are two schools. Some people think it's good, some people think it's bad. But what do you think?
OK, because the thing is, it was fascinating to hear that multitasking was originally created for computers, because computers were able to seemingly do some tasks at the same time. But actually they're not.
So it's like, for example. If you're joggling or something, right, it's the same thing, you know, so the computer was able to allocate resources here and then resources there and do it so fast that it looked like it was doing it at the same time. But it is really not the case.
So the author was saying this, you hear there is this legend, this myth about, well, if you're good at multitasking, then you're going to do a lot better than someone who can't multitask.
And you may be one of those people who cannot multitask. There are some things my brain is not wired for. You know, for example, I cannot I can't walk and drink. I can't I have to stop. I can't work on something and listen to music. My brain is not necessarily wired like this. I mean, I need to kind of like focus on something.
So what is the definition of multitasking? You can do two things at the same time. OK, and if that's a definition, it is true. You can do two things at the same time. You can breathe and sleep. You can breathe and walk. You can talk and walk. Right.
But here's the thing. You can't focus on two things at the same time. You won't be able to do it well. So I don't know. Let's say, for example, you're walking with someone and then you want to explain something very, very complex. Chances are you're going to stop walking and then you're going to explain
The truth about multitasking… Good or bad? You tell me
It's just a mechanism for your brain to be able to focus, you know, so, you know, those people who think that they can do things a few things at the same time. Yes, they can, but you won't be able to do them well. You won't be able to because you're not focused on them.
OK, so why is this a problem? So one thing that they that they realized and the reason why people were able to achieve a lot more when they were focusing on a single task is that the worst enemy of productivity is interruptions.
So it could be an interruption from Bob who comes in and he wants you to do this? And Stewart, who is not happy with something and comes in and bugs you and stuff, you know, so these are interruptions that are actually caused by other people.
But there are interruptions that you will cause yourself by multitasking. If you're constantly switching between one task and another, then you have to start all the time. So basically you're doing a task and then you have to stop this task. You have to rewire your brain to take into consideration the next task. And then you have to start this task and then you have to come back to the other one.
And all this takes time. It takes time out of your concentration, out of your productivity and stuff. So it might not seem like a lot, but when you compound those, you know, because you need to start over all the freaking time.
Have you never noticed when, like, for example, for me happens quite a lot. So you are talking about something and then you get interrupted, the baby's crying or something, and then you come back and like, what was I saying?
You've had that right. So it's not even guaranteed that you will be able to come back to whatever level it is that you left when you switched. OK, and for this, I mean, they did an experiment and found that people were I mean, between 30 percent to 100 percent less productive than people who only focused on one task because that's all they had to do.
