FBC – 252 – How I am able to come up with one new subject every day

How do you come up with one new podcast topic every single day without running dry? In this episode, Martin Ebongue reveals the exact system he uses to generate hundreds of podcast subjects using nothing more than a mind mapping tool. No guest required. No creativity needed. Just a proven method anyone can follow.

The Real Problem With Running Out of Podcast Topics

Most aspiring podcasters know what they want to talk about for the first two or three episodes. After that, they go blank. They miss one recording session, then another, and eventually the podcast dies quietly after a handful of episodes. This is not a talent problem. It is a system problem.

If you do not have a method for generating topics continuously, you will always run out. The content itself is not the bottleneck. The system for finding content is.

Why Mind Maps Changed Everything

Martin resisted mind mapping for years. He wrote on paper. It worked fine, until he tried MindMeister. That one change transformed how he organises ideas, plans projects, and prepares content. He now uses mind maps for everything: websites, business plans, podcast preparation.

The power of a mind map is that it gives you a complete visual overview of any idea at a glance. It shows you gaps you would never have noticed on a list. It makes relationships between ideas visible and turns vague topics into structured content trees.

How to Build an Infinite Content Library With MindMeister

The process starts with your central topic. For Martin, that is his entrepreneurship journey. From there, you create major branches for each significant phase or category: how he started, his first wins, his biggest failures, the mindset shifts, the tools he uses. Each branch becomes a possible episode.

Then you go deeper. Each major branch gets sub-branches. Each sub-branch gets sub-sub-branches. A single phase of your life or expertise area can generate thirty or forty episode ideas on its own. Multiply that across every major branch and you have a content library that will take years to exhaust.

You don't need to be creative. You need to be systematic. A mind map turns one big idea into dozens of episodes.

How to Use Milestones and Branches to Never Run Dry

The key insight is to think in milestones rather than topics. Use a weight loss journey as an example. Your milestones might be: life before the decision to change, the moment of commitment, changing your diet, changing your habits, the first results, the motivation spike, the plateau, the breakthrough. Each milestone is an episode in itself.

Then you branch each milestone into its components: the emotional side, the practical side, what you ate, how you felt, what friends said, what almost made you quit. Each branch is another episode. You can also invite a trusted friend to help with the branching process since they will think of angles you would never consider on your own.

Most podcast hosts give up after three episodes because they had topics but no system. Build the system first.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you come up with podcast topics every single day?

The most reliable method is to create a mind map of your expertise, experience, or niche. Map out every major milestone or category, then branch each one into smaller topics, emotions, practical steps, and lessons learned. This gives you a structured content library you can return to every day, adding branches as new ideas arise. With this system, Martin generated over 250 consecutive daily episodes.

What is MindMeister and why use it for podcasting?

MindMeister is an online mind mapping tool that lets you visually organise and connect ideas. For podcasting, it serves as your content library and episode planner in one place. You can see all your potential topics at a glance, add new branches whenever inspiration strikes, and never lose an idea because everything is stored in one structured place.

How do you use mind mapping to create a content library?

Start with your central subject in the middle of the map. Create major branches for each phase, category, or theme within your topic. Then break each major branch into smaller sub-branches representing specific angles, lessons, stories, or questions. Repeat until you have more topics than you can record in a year. Then record, revisit the map, and keep adding branches as your experience grows.

Can this method work for any niche, not just entrepreneurship?

Yes, this method works for any niche. The example in this episode uses weight loss. A fitness podcaster, a parenting podcaster, a travel podcaster, or a business coach can all apply the same milestone and branch approach. Any life experience or area of expertise, when broken down into milestones and their components, generates far more content than any single person could ever record.
