So yeah, it's just some advice on how to deal with support stuff. All right. Because I have worked in support for like three years myself. And I know exactly how support works and what these people have to deal with every day. It can be incredibly rewarding, to, you know, solve people's problems, but it can also bring you down very quickly.
So thing is that when you work in support, nobody's calling you to tell you that, oh, man, you know what? Everything's so awesome. I'm happy and stuff, right? If people are happy, they're not going to tell you. People are going to call you to moan about something, to scream about something, complain of stuff. So, you know, it's very demanding. You only get the bad vibes.
So me, for example, my water pump broke today. I had to call to get someone to come and fix it. So I called this woman tells me, oh, you know what? You we only have a technician for Monday night. And I'm like, dude, it's Friday. What do you mean Monday? Very calmly. I didn't scream or anything. I remained calm.
So I asked her, is there anything you can do for me? So, she looked and the she said we can send you someone tomorrow evening. I'm like, well, tomorrow evening, you know, I don't have water, like zero water. I need someone to come today. So I jumped on my scooter and went there.
So eventually she was able to send me some dude straight away. But I was very courteous and didn't yell and scream or anything. So what I want you guys to understand is that when this happens, you know, whatever.
I mean, how bad whatever it is you're calling about, you need to understand that the person on the other side of the phone is not the one that actually caused that problem. Okay. You see the problem and you call about it to get a solution and they're here to help. Okay. Also understand, they're not machines or humans. They're people, so when you call and you talk to someone just stop yelling at them.

They're here to help. OK. So when you're here to help and someone's yelling at you and stuff, and while you're not responsible for their problems, you're here to solve the problems. You know, it can be draining.
Yeah. It really helps. And then these people will go the extra mile for you because most people don't bother being, you know, nice and understanding with the support stuff. And if you think about it, how is shouting and yelling at some stranger going to help solve your problem.
It might make you feel better in the short term but in the long run, you're just making it a whole lot worse for yourself.
Key Takeaways
The person on the other side of the phone is not the one who caused your problem. They are there to help you solve it. Treating them with kindness is the fastest path to getting what you need.
When you are courteous to support teams, you stand out from the crowd. Most people yell, complain, and make demands. Be the person who makes their day better, and they will move mountains for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I be nice to customer support staff?
Customer support staff did not cause your problem. They are there to help you solve it. When you treat them with respect, they are far more motivated to find creative solutions and go the extra mile for you. Yelling only makes the situation worse for everyone involved.
Does being kind to support actually get better results?
Yes. Support agents deal with frustrated customers all day long. When someone is courteous and patient, it stands out. They will often prioritize your request and find solutions they would not offer to someone who screamed at them.
How can I stay calm when I am frustrated with a service?
Remember that the person on the phone is not responsible for your problem. Take a deep breath, explain your situation clearly, and ask “is there anything you can do for me?” This simple approach opens doors that aggression closes.
