Today I wanted to give you the results of a survey that I did.
So I wanted to understand a few things about my audience to be able to help you guys a bit better. Right. To understand, first of all, what your goal is. OK, so that's the first thing I want to know. What's your goal?
The assumption is that the number one motivation for people to do stuff is money. Right. And I don't know where it comes from, like TV or something. I don't know. So I ran this the survey and I got some interesting results.
And the number one thing that came out of it wasโฆโฆwas it money? There were a few people said money. But most people told me other things.
There is a recurring theme in a lot of these answers. It's actually family. And I was surprised. I honestly expected to see a lot more stuff about money and, you know, financial freedom and stuff. Some people do want financial freedom, but it turns out that the people say that family values are lost and stuff like that.
But it's not the case, actually. I mean, these are people from around the globe. They're very different people. But the great majority of people told me something about their family. So they told me they want to be able to enjoy spending some quality time with their family or being able to provide for their family or help family members and stuff like that or help your spouse and stuff.
And I was I was happily surprised because I'm one of those people who thinks that people have lost faith in in mankind. Somehow I was expecting more stuff about money, so I guess I was one of those people who lost faith in mankind thinking that everybody was out for themselves and to get out and get some dough. Right. Which doesn't seem to be the case.
I really didn't expect that… The results of a recent survey
The best thing is to ask people, you know, what matters with your audience. As I told you before, what matters with the audience is not what you think, but it's what they think and what they want. What they need.
So you need to understand that if you don't do stuff like this, asking them for their opinion, then you might end up on the wrong track. So it was a good exercise and a wakeup call for me not to lose faith, to have more faith in people and in the values and stuff.
Definitely I need to spend more time with my family because I called my niece and nephew, a few weeks ago, but it could have been nearly a year ago. And they had absolutely no idea who I was. My sister was like, yeah, the kids don't remember you, so yeah you should come and pay a visit now. And I've made up all the excuses to myself, like the geographical stuff. I'm so far away, but I can still do it.
But anyway, it's very, very interesting. It's one of those cases where you realize that you make a lot of assumptions about other people.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the number one motivation for entrepreneurs?
Based on a survey I ran, family was the top motivator for most people, not money. People want to spend quality time with loved ones, provide for their families, and help those closest to them. Financial freedom is a means to that end, not the goal itself.
Why should entrepreneurs survey their audience?
Because your assumptions about what people want are often wrong. I expected money to dominate the responses, but family values came out on top. If you build products and content based on assumptions alone, you will miss what your audience truly needs.
How do you run an effective audience survey?
Keep it simple. Ask open-ended questions about goals and challenges. Let people answer in their own words rather than forcing multiple choice options. The raw, unfiltered responses give you the most actionable insights for your business.
