There are widespread beliefs in modern society that are simply not true, yet most people accept them without question. These lies shape how you think about work, success, and what is possible for your life. In this episode, I expose one of the biggest deceptions that has been holding people back for years and explain why it persists.

So today I have as quote for you. It's actually a pretty good quote and it will make you think because there is one expression that we use all the time. And you know, when you see it from that angle, you realize that this quote is actually wrong.
Very often you hear this saying the YOLO thing here, YOLO, you only live once. We always say this. So even in this podcast, I told you that you only have one life, you only live once and you want to make the most of it, OK.
And you know, the people who understand this are people like entrepreneurs and stuff. They want to make the most out of that one life that they have because again, you only live once. Right. So I've been repeating that myself for the longest time, and I've been telling that to people until someone helped me see that from a different angle.
So I saw this quote that said, oh, dude, we only live once. I think it was Charlie Brown. He was saying, well, Snoopy, we only live once. And Snoopy said, no, we only die once, we live every day. And I think that was really powerful.
I mean, I've read that and I was like, well, you know, it's actually true. But we've heard the quote and then we just repeat the quote. Sounds really cool and then you just repeat it makes a lot of sense until you can see it from a different angle.
Revealed: You've Been Lied To For Years And Here Is WHY…
And yes, indeed, you have a chance every single day to live your life, to live a different life or to make choices and stuff. You will only die once.
I remember I had a run in with a friend of mine. I gave that friend the opportunity to do something. So I built everything for him and he didn't actually do anything right. So after like a month or something, you know, I confronted him. I said, well, you know, I spent my time doing that for you, and you didn't do anything with it. It's just a waste of my time. I'm taking it back.
So it was basically a piece of my business. I took one third of my business, give it to my buddy, and he didn't do anything with it. And he was like, oh, no, no, please give me one chance because blah, blah, blah, some excuses. And I was like, no, it's not like you had one chance. You had 30 chances of actually doing something with it every day.
And even at that time, I couldn't relate that to the fact that we actually live every single day. You know, when I read this quote, I was like, dude, it makes a lot of sense. You know, I was telling my buddy, you had 30 chances of doing something. You didn't do it. And so for whatever reason, I was thinking that, well, I only lived once.
So one thing is that I don't really like being philosophical and stuff like, oh, enjoy the moment and stuff like that, which, as of now, I'm not in the mind-set of enjoying every single second and being grateful for everything.
But I realize that every day is a new opportunity for you to live your life. And every day you can make new choices. Every day you can try something new.

The lie I had to unlearn to get free
The biggest lie is that hard work alone gets you there. I believed it for years. I worked harder than almost everyone I knew and stayed stuck, because effort pointed at the wrong system just gets you tired faster. What actually changed things was leverage, meaning systems and automation that keep producing after I stop.
Here is the swap. Instead of asking how hard can I work, I started asking what can I build once that pays repeatedly. That is the entire difference between trading time for money and owning an asset. I built 1,500+ workflows on that principle, and it is how a one-person operation can outproduce a small team. I tell the full unlearning story on the Freedom by Choice podcast, and I share the operator tactics on my LinkedIn newsletter, The Diary of a Virtual CEO.
The data agrees. McKinsey Digital keeps quantifying how much output shifts to automated systems, and the productivity research from Harvard Business Review shows why raw hours stopped predicting results. Pick one repetitive task this week and build it once. That is where the lie breaks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the biggest lie people have been told about success?
One of the biggest lies is that following a conventional path (school, degree, corporate job) guarantees success and security. In reality, true financial freedom and fulfillment often come from thinking differently and building something of your own.
Why do these lies persist in society?
They persist because they benefit existing systems and institutions. People repeat them because they were taught the same things and never questioned them. Breaking the cycle requires independent thinking.
How do you know if you have been lied to about business?
If your beliefs about money, work, and success have never been tested against real-world results, there is a good chance some of them are based on myths rather than facts. Start by questioning assumptions you have never examined.
How do you break free from limiting beliefs?
Start by exposing yourself to people who think differently. Read widely, seek mentors who have achieved what you want, and test your assumptions with real action rather than theory.
